Amaranth has demonstrated a good performance in exports from 2017 to 2020 in FOB value, showing a sustainable growth in that period, and precisely coincides with the launch of the sectorial brand Superfoods Peru, whose purpose is to position and promote peruvian functional foods in the foreign market. In addition, according to the Lima Chamber of Commerce (2021), within the portfolio of this sector brand are the andean grains such as quinoa, canihua, amaranth that have stood out the most in recent years. For this reason, the purpose of this present investigation is to determine if the Superfoods Peru brand influenced the internationalization of amaranth exporting companies under harmonized system code 1008902900 during the period 2017 to 2020. In this sense, a qualitative approach with grounded theory is used for the two study variables, which are the Superfoods Peru brand and internationalization. Therefore, twelve semi-structured interviews were conducted with experts on the subject and with amaranth exporting companies, whose data were processed with the support of the Atlas.ti® 9 program. As a result, it was not validated that the Superfoods Peru brand has influenced the internationalization of amaranth exporting companies under harmonized system code 1008902900 during the period 2017 to 2020, but it was found that the sectoral brand has create a consolidated identity for companies that sell functional products, since they have been able to participate in international events with a unique and differentiated identity from other countries. Moreover, it has made known the functional foods not so exploited to the international market. Additionally, it was found that peruvian gastronomy promotes these foods and contributes to reinforcing the Superfoods Peru brand. Based on this, recommendations will be provided for future research and for the stakeholders involved.
