This research work seeks to explain the importance of the maintenance area in mining companies that work with heavy equipment. In this context, achieve high indicators in reliability and availability of the equipment. The problem in the Miskimayo mining company was defined by the low physical availability of a fleet of 22 Komatsu mining trucks, the same ones that present values below the goals established in the Marc contract. This problem generates economic losses for both companies, among other negative effects. . For this reason, it is proposed to implement a model plan for the current maintenance program to increase physical availability in the truck fleet. To do this, methodologies such as the RCM and the TPM will be applied. This research was divided into four chapters. First Chapter, theoretical framework of the methodologies applicable to the maintenance area. Second chapter, Komatsu was introduced to its maintenance structure and processes. Third chapter, focused on evaluating possible solution alternatives to counteract the main causes of the problem, likewise, the development of the RCM methodology was exposed, complemented with the pillars of the TPM autonomous maintenance and health and safety. Fourth chapter, with the help of the ProModel software and the economic-financial cash flow, the proposal to use the RCM and TPM methodologies was validated. Finally, the conclusions and recommendations summarize how important and necessary it will be to develop and implement this new proposed maintenance plan for the Komatsu 730E trucks from the Vale Miskimayo mining company.
