In this research, an analysis of journalistic work on issues of mental health and suicide was carried out on the web platforms of the newspapers Perú21 and El Popular. The specific case of Angie Jibaja was taken as a sample, who is diagnosed with depression, borderline personality disorder and has tried to kill herself twice. Being a public figure within the Peruvian show business, a wide coverage was made based on events that Jibaja shared on her social networks. Since mental health is an issue that can have a high impact on vulnerable societies, mental health specialists recommend specialized coverage. Sensational headlines were published that pointed to specific suicide methods and linked the actions of the woman involved with her diagnosis of depression. None of the published articles was sourced from a mental health specialist. On the contrary, opinions of other characters from the Peruvian show business were cited. Jibaja was also not interviewed to cover her case.
