In this paper, the relationship between imitation strategies according to grades - considering only Legal Copy and Creative Adaptation - with the purchase of soft drinks in supermarkets by youth and adults belonging to socioeconomic level C residing in Metropolitan Lima was analyzed. The Legal Copies are brands with a high degree of imitation with respect to the leaders of their category showing it by means of their presentation, therefore, they border on what is legally allowed because they have another brand name, a very low price and their sale is allowed -like the Counterfeit-, which would mean selling the imitation claiming to be a brand that it isn't. It can be seen mostly in supermarket brands. Creative Adaptations are brands that share similar traits with their respective leaders; but they have differentials that are of value to your audience such as size, prices (never as low as a Legal Copy), presentations, etc. In addition, they have their own brand name. For the qualitative study, the brands studied were the Creative Adaptations of Coca Cola and Inka Kola such as Kola Real, Big Cola, Gold and the soft drinks belonging to Legal Copy such as Bell's Cola Negra and Amarilla, within Metro and Plaza Vea de San Martín de Porres where observations were made. In addition to conducting in-depth interviews with experts and consumers. For the quantitative study, a questionnaire was administered to 250 people, whose responses were organized through the SPSS to corroborate the hypothesis about the relationship of the two variables set out above. The final results confirm that the valuation is higher for Creative Adaptation than for Legal Copy. This result is understood because the vast majority of people who have a preference for leading brands reject the legal copy as they seek authenticity. However, it is important to note that - with legal copies - its acceptance also varies if the segment prefers or not to Creative Adaptation.
