Background: Migraine is a neurological disease and an important cause of morbidity, mainly in female population. Many studies carried out with patients, has shown that there is association between migraine and fibromyalgia; however, few studies have evaluated if that association exist in general population. Objectives: To determine the association between fibromyalgia symptoms and migraine symptoms in female students of a private Peruvian university. Also, to determine the prevalence of fibromialgia symptoms and migraine symptoms in these population. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study. It was made in a private university in Lima –Perú. Participants were 410 female students of 4 careers. The outcome was a dichotomous categorical variable. To evaluate migraine symptoms and fibromialgia symptoms we used the Migraine Screen Questionnaire (MS-Q), with a cutting-point indicating suspicion of migraine established at ≥ 4 points; and the modified 2010 preliminary American College of Rheumatology criteria self-report format, respectively. For multivariable analysis, Poisson regression with robust variance estimation was used, from where crude and adjusted rate of prevalence, with 95% confidence intervals, were calculated.
