Introduction: Hepatitis C is an infectious disease caused by the hepatitis C virus (HCV), where 55-85% of patients who do not cure spontaneously develop chronic infection. This disease causes a decrease in the quality of life and an increased risk for cirrhosis and cancer. In Peru, no study has been found in the country that evaluates quality of life and associated factors in patients with this disease. Objective: To determine factors associated with health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in patients with chronic hepatitis C. Methodology: An analytical cross-sectional study in patients with chronic hepatitis C who were attended in the gastroenterology clinics through an ad hoc survey. HRQoL was measured using the analog visual scale (AVS) of the EQ-5D-5L®. Associated factors were identified by multivariate linear regression. For this, those variables associated in the bivariate analysis and that reach the respective assumptions were included in the model. A significance level of 0.05 was used in all tests. Results: 132 personas participated in the study, 47.7% male with an average age of 61.11 years (SD: 11,42). The mean HRQoL in the population was 72.52 points (SD: 14,19). The factors associated with HRQoL were interferon treatment (β: -11,13; IC 95% -18,10 to -4,15; p=0,002). Conclusion: Finally, we found that patients with HCV who received antiviral treatment with interferon were associated with a decrease in HRQOL.
