Post-tensioned slabs are being used lately with greater regularity, however, there is some ignorance about their use participating within the structural system resistant to lateral forces such as those produced by the earthquake or the wind. In this work post-tensioned slabs are used in two directions as floor systems in high buildings with rigid core, that is to say that they have structural walls in the middle zone of the building. Those post-tensioned slabs were modified the gross moment of inertia (Ig) to study the seismic behavior of the tall buildings as well as the response of those slabs. This study is validated with several computational models of buildings, in which a slab thickness is proposed in order to satisfy the maximum drifts of the tall buildings established by the national standard, varying the moments of inertia of these post-tensioned slabs. It also involves the modification of the resistance to compression of the concrete (f'c) of the slabs and vertical elements, as well as the thicknesses of structural walls. The result of this study is the obtaining of thickness of post-tensioned slab with respect to the variation of the capacity to compression of the concrete (f'c) distributed in the building, thickness of walls in rigid core and the percentage of cracked moment of inertia of the post-tensioned slabs. Punching was also checked on the post-tensioned slabs.
