This is a descriptive comparative study of emotional dependence in psychology students of a private university in Trujillo, according to the level of academic training, we worked with a sample of 88 beginning (first cycle), intermediate (fifth cycle) and advanced (tenth cycle) students, of 25, 42 and 21 students respectively, without distinction of sex and from 17 years old and older, for the evaluation we used the Emotional Dependence Inventory (IDE). The results showed that the three levels of academic training are located at a low or normal level (beginners 68%, intermediate 78.6% and advanced 66.7%) of emotional dependence, in the comparison 3 study groups were established: beginners with respect to intermediate, beginners with respect to advanced and intermediate with respect to advanced. As for factor 2 (fear and intolerance to loneliness), it was presented in an ascending way within low or normal according to the academic levels, and the remaining 6 factors were presented in a decreasing way within low or normal, being the most notorious factors 3, 5, 6 and 7; however, in spite of having differences, these are not significant for the nature of this research.
