Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) is a common ophthalmic pathology in its group, where there is an alteration at the level of the retinal vasculature, causing abnormal development, producing a total or partial loss of vision depending on the level of exposure ,1 secondarily, it causes a vasoproliferative retinal disorder that is exclusive to premature infants, producing a complex pathology of the immature retinal vasculature in preterm infants. ROP is a proliferative peripheral vitreoretinopathy. 2 Factors that influence the presence of ROP are blood transfusion, patent ductus arteriosus, use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, postnatal hypotension, use of inotropes, low Apgar scores, sepsis, mechanical ventilation, use of supplemental oxygen, syndrome of respiratory distress, anemia, surfactant use and bronchopulmonary dysplasia were associated with the development of ROP and ROP type 1, intraventricular hemorrhage were significant risk factors for ROP. 12 13 According to several studies there are protective factors for ROP such as breast milk, vitamin C, E, hypoxia, the presence of necrotizing enterocolitis, hemolytic disease, nutrition rich in lipids and total calories and maternal pre-eclampsia whether mild or severe, the use of prenatal corticosteroids even It is controversial, with contradictory results in different studies where its protective function has not yet been clarified very wel
