The present study is descriptive, cross-sectional, whose objective was to determine patient satisfaction in post-operative mediate nursing care, based on the theory of Virginia Henderson, at the Teaching Regional Hospital of Trujillo. The sample consisted of 56 adults to whom an instrument prepared by the authors was applied, validated through expert judgment and pilot test, with a confidence level of 0.931 through the calculation of conbrach alpha. The data obtained were processed with the SPSS Version 22.0 program and the results, in general, indicated that 78.57% of patients were satisfied and 21.43% were dissatisfied with nursing care. 53.57% of the satisfied patients belong to the masculine gender, likewise, the data obtained indicated that satisfaction in 30.36% of patients according to their age was higher in the group of 21 to 35 years. 32.14% of satisfied patients have studied only up to the secondary level, this being the highest percentage according to the level of instruction. According to previous surgeries, the highest percentage of satisfaction was represented by 46.43% of patients who had not experienced previous surgery. Finally, satisfaction results based on the theory of needs of Virginia Henderson, indicated that the needs of greater satisfaction were those of circulation, respiration and thermoregulation in 96.43% of the patients, and the most unmet need was that of beliefs and values personalities in 89.29% of patients.
