The aim of this study was to recognize, differentiate and know factors that alter the leukocyte series of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) through blood extensions, since these are a useful and essential tool in this type of production to have a reference on health and have adequate sanitary control. A hematological evaluation was carried out a total of 90 individuals of rainbow trout that were located in the César Vallejo sector, belonging to the district of Agallpampa, province of Otuzco, of the department of La Libertad. For this evaluation blood was drawn in heparinized tubes lithium to each specimen twice, the first extraction was for the first 45 specimens and the second extraction was performed three days after the remaining 45 specimens; after the blood collection, each fish was sacrificed. The total leukocyte count in each blood extension was performed by means of the indirect blood smear method, obtaining as a result in the first sampling an average of 38 738.99 cells / uL, a standard deviation of 12 396.02 and a coefficient of variation of 32 %; while in the second sampling the average number of leukocytes was 46 721.11 cells / uL, a standard deviation of 16 382.33 and a coefficient of variation of 35.06 %, the average of the second sampling being greater than the first; and using the same blood extensions, recognition and characterization of the cells present in rainbow trout was carried out. It was concluded that blood extensions allow us to recognize and differentiate the leukocyte series in rainbow trout and it was observed that the stress factor alters the distribution of white blood cells
