A substantive investigation has been carried out, whose general objective was to determine the relationship between family communication and alexithymia in students of human medicine from a private university in Trujillo. For this, we worked with a sample of 276 students of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycle of Human Medicine of a private university of Trujillo, of both genders, aged between 17 and 19 years of age, with enrollment in force in the period 2018 - II, using for its evaluation the Scale of Domestic Family Scale (ECI-EAL) of Arévalo (2014) and the Toronto Alexithymia Scale of Taylor, Bagby, and Parker (1997). The results show that a medium level of family communication predominates in the study subjects, and its dimensions; and the low level of Alexithymia, and its dimensions. Likewise, it was possible to determine that there is a very significant correlation (p <.01), negative, and in a medium degree, between Family Communication and Alexithymia in the students of human medicine of a private university in Trujillo
