Abstract: Los cambios fisiopatológicos placentarios que se presentan en las
mujeres embarazadas infectadas por SARS-CoV-2, son aspectos nuevos que se
encuentran en estudio durante esta pandemia, debido a los diversos riesgos y
complicaciones que afectan a la gestante como al feto.
Objetivo: Revisar los cambios fisiopatológicos que ocurren a nivel de placenta
en gestantes que son diagnosticadas con COVID-19; así como, las
complicaciones que se presenten.
Métodos: Se realizó una revisión de literatura relevante publicada a partir del 20
de septiembre del 2019, hasta la fecha de la culminación de la elaboración del
artículo. Se usaron bases de datos científicas estándar (PubMed, Uptodate, etc.).
Conclusiones: La salud de la mujer embarazada y el feto, se encuentran
amenazados por el SARS-CoV-2. Los cambios encontrados a nivel placentario
trajeron como resultado diversas complicaciones en las gestantes, por lo cual es
necesario mayor investigación histopatológica para direccionar adecuadamente
el manejo en las mujeres embarazadas
