To demonstrate whether there is an association between unhealthy lifestyle and acne severity in students of the Toribio Casanova Educational Center in Cutervo - Cajamarca. METHOD: As for the method used, a field study was carried out to determine the study variables. The research design was analytical, observational, sectional and cross-sectional. The study population was patients who were students of the Toribio Casanova Educational Center in Cutervo - Cajamarca during the period March to June. With a study sample of 132 patients. RESULTS: The frequency of unhealthy lifestyle in adolescents with severe acne is 57, representing 43% of the population. The frequency of unhealthy lifestyle in adolescents with non-severe acne is 31, representing 23% of the population. The frequency of unhealthy lifestyle in adolescents with non-severe acne is 31, representing 23% of the population. The difference between the frequency of unhealthy lifestyle between adolescents with severe and non-severe acne is highly significant, with severe acne outnumbering non-severe acne by 84% among youth with unhealthy lifestyle. Pearson's chi-square test allowed us to glimpse that the intervening variables that really influence the appearance of severe acne or not are age, academic degree and anxiety level. While sex and place of origin are indifferent to the occurrence of severe acne. CONCLUSION: Lifestyle, healthy or unhealthy, has a statistically significant influence on whether or not to suffer from severe acne, as do intervening variables such as age, academic degree and anxiety level.
