The purpose of this research was to evaluate the nutritional value and determine the count of aerobic mesophilic microorganisms in dog food, that is sold in the Central, Hermelinda and Mayorista markets, from Trujillo city. For this, 15 samples were collected, corresponding to five brands from three markets with different characteristics. Both bromatological and microbiological studies were performed in parallel. The results of the proximal food analysis were not significantly different from the limits shown in the sealed food. On the other hand, based on international sanitary standards, there is evidence of greater contamination in the food obtained from the Hermelinda market, with 80% considered to be moderately acceptable. Concluding that, food issued in bulk does not significantly vary its nutritional components with respect to the limits reported by companies in their packaged foods, and according to international sanitary standards, 46.67% of the food purchased in the supply markets are considered moderately acceptable; Likewise, according to these regulations, 80% of food purchased in the Hermelinda market is considered moderately acceptable, followed by 40% and 20% of the Mayorista and central market, respectively.
