The present investigation Family functioning and happiness in high school students from an Adventist school in Trujillo aimed to determine the relationship between family functioning and happiness in high school students from an Adventist school in Trujillo. It is of a substantive type and correlational design. As a sample size, the total population of 130 students from first to fifth grade of secondary level of an Adventist educational institution in Trujillo was considered. The instruments used were the Family Cohesion and Adaptability Scale (FACES IV) and the Lima Happiness Scale. It was found that 41.5% of students present medium level family functioning, followed by 31.5% with high level and 26.9% with low level. Regarding the level of happiness, the medium level predominates with 42.3%, followed by the high level with 35.4% and the low level with 22.3%. There is also a highly significant and direct correlation (p <.01) between cohesion and positive sense of life, satisfaction with life, personal fulfillment and joy of living. There is a highly significant and direct correlation (p <.01) between the dimensions of family functioning and happiness.
