The following research project was completed in the Agallpampa district, Otuzco province, in the region of La Libertad, at 3121 meters above sea level, located at 7° 58' 57.715““ south and 78° 32' 43.010““ west. The project began in the month of September in 2014 and continued until May of 2015. The objective of this study was to determine the adaptability of the fodder beet (Beta vulgaris L.) to the high Andes zone through the study of plant density and nitrogen fertilization as an economic alternative in order to improve the quality of life of the local people. To achieve the objectives in this study, the experiment included two densities of plants, 230 thousand plants per hectare and 300 thousand plants per hectare, with three different doses of nitrogen, 24 kg N ha-1 , 144 kg N ha-1 and 264 kg N ha-1 . This was replicated four times in an area of 0.002 hectares. The results found in this study were yields of 367 t ha-1 with an optimal dose of 121.36 kg N ha-1 and a density of 300 thousand plants per hectare. The optimal dose for a density of 230 thousand plants per hectare was found to be 74 kg N ha-1 and a maximum yield of 247.75 t ha-1 . The bromatological quality: humidity (from 74.85 to 78.01%); protein (from 4.13 to 4.81% dry matter); fats (from 0.35 to 0.60%); ash (from 0.41 to 0.46%); carbohydrates (from 16.70 to 17.66); energy (from 87.01 to 93.88 kcal). furthermdre high yields as well, allows to considering the root, plus the crown and leaves as a source of feed for cattle, sheep, pigs and South American camelids
