Determine whether hyperuricemia is a risk factor for obstetric complications in women with hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. Material and methods.An observational, analytical, retrospective cohort study was conducted. The study population consisted of women who were hospitalized with diagnoses of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy in the Department of Gynecology - Obstetrics Hospital Victor Lazarte Echegaray during the period 2014 - 2018, the EPIDAT 4.2 program was used to obtain the sample size, the sampling unit was selected by random sampling, those that these met the inclusion criteria and showed no exclusion criteria were distributed into two groups by exposure or to hyperuricemia information obtained was recorded sheets data collection stored in a database in Microsoft Excel 2016 and processed using the statistical package SPSS Statistics 25. Results The study consisted of two groups, group A with hyperuricemia and group B without exposure to hyperuricemia, each with 60 members. In group A, 18 of 60 patients (30%) presented at least one complication, while in group B, 4 of 60 patients (6%) presented at least one complication, the presence of hyperuricemia represented 4.5 times the risk of have obstetric complications compared to the unexposed group. (1.62-12.51) (p = 0.001). Conclusions. Hyperuricemia is a risk factor for obstetric complications in women with hypertensive disorders of pregnancy
