The general objective of this research project is to be able to develop a proposal for the implementation of Lean Manufacturing tools that improves productivity in the processes of the production area of the company Insumex S.A. First, using the VSM tool, waste from excess storage (Lead Time) and high waiting time for change of preparation were identified in the processes of the Production area (Crushing, Drying, Grinding and Bagging), considering only the products of Class ““A““ according to the ABC classification of sales of the fourth quarter 2020 and the family of products according to the similarity of their processes (Family 1 and Family 2). Then, the current productivity of hours - machine, labor, materials (raw material) and the total productivity of the processes of the production area were calculated taking into account the production of the first quarter of 2021. Also, opportunities for improvement were prioritized of greater impact on waste in the processes of the Production area, this being the high preparation change time in the grinding and bagging process, so that the proposal for the implementation of the 5S tool was formulated in the process stations of milling and bagging, and the proposal of implementation of the SMED tool in the operations of change of preparation of products in the same process. In addition, the partial and total productivity was determined after the improvement proposal in the milling and bagging process, considering the reduction in preparation change time of 28.88% in Family 1 and 31.97% in Family 2, and the quantity of changes made in the production of the first quarter of 2021. In this way, it was possible to increase the productivity of machine hours by 2.93% in Family 1 and 3.23% in Family 2, in the case of labor productivity the increased by 3.49% in Family 1 and 3.52% in Family 2, and total productivity increased by 3.04 in Family 1 and 3.28% in Family 2, concluding that there was an improvement based on the objectives set during the investigation.
