This research work aims to demonstrate through a technical and economic study the economic and financial viability in the production and commercialization of coconut oil in the city of Trujillo. The study began with a strategic analysis of the sector in order to determine the competitive strategies summarized in a SWOT matrix using the main opportunities, threats, strengths and weaknesses of the sector. Subsequently, the study sample was determined using a survey, which was previously designed through a segmentation of the market at the socioeconomic and demographic level, obtaining a sample of 385 inhabitants using a statistical formula for infinite populations. Subsequently, the engineering study of the project was carried out through an analysis of costs, expenses and investments, determining a total investment amount of S/ 168,088.31, which was financed 75% debt and 15% own contribution, which generated a weighted financial cost of the investment portfolio of 21.81%. For the location of the plant, the weighting model of factors at the macro and micro level was used, obtaining the city of Trujillo as the most appropriate locality with a weighted factor of 7.30 points out of a total of 10. For the plant capacity, the Net Present Value method was used based on the target demand, obtaining the optimal capacity of 77,654 350 ml bottles of coconut oil with a NPV. Subsequently, the projected financial, accounting and treasury statements were prepared, obtaining returns on investment and equity capital above the sector average, with values of 95.57% and 210.20%, respectively, in the first year of project execution. Likewise, the values of the NAW and NPV were positive with values of S/890,659.75 and S/776,733.26 respectively, which demonstrated the viability of the project both economically and financially. Finally, it was determined that the recovery of the total and equity investment of the project was made in the first year of project execution with a surplus of S/117,737.81 and S/776,733.26 respectively.
