nivel educativo secundario (RP: 0.32, IC95%: 0.14-0.72, p<0.001) y superior
técnico/universitario (RP: 0.17, IC95%: 0.45-0.67; p=0.011), ser casado/conviviente
(RP: 1.57, IC95%: 1.47-1.68, p<0.001), el ser jubilado (RP: 1.70, IC95%:1.42-2.05,
p<0.001), neuropatía diabética (RP: 1.30, IC95%: 1.12-1.51, p=0.001) y glucosa en
ayunas ≥130 mg/dL (RP: 1.35, IC95%: 1.13-1.61, p=0.001).
presentaron edad mayor a 50 años, nivel educativo primario, estado civil casados o
convivientes, prevalencia alta de disfunción sexual, aumento de hemoglobina
glicosiladas y glucosas en ayunas elevadas.
Objective: To evaluate the characteristics associated with sexual dysfunction in male patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus attended at the Ayabaca I-4 Piura Health Center in the first semester of 2021. Methods: An observational, prospective, cross-sectional, and analytical study. A total of 186 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus more than one year after diagnosis and aged between 40 and 65 years were studied. The information was collected by interviewing the patient and applying the IIEF-5 (“International Index Erectile Function“) questionnaire to detect patients with sexual dysfunction (≤21 points). The information was analyzed by regression with Poisson model to identify the association between variables. Results: A prevalence of sexual dysfunction of 62.9% was identified. The 89.7% were older than 50 years, 66.7% were married/cohabiting, 46.2% were retired, 65% had an elementary level of education. 20.5% of participants with sexual dysfunction had a fasting glucose level ≥130 mg/dL. Factors associated with sexual dysfunction were: being 50 or older (PR: 3.58, 95%CI: 2.14-6.01, p<0.001), secondary (PR: 0.32, 95%CI: 0.14-0.72, p<0.001) and higher technical/university (PR: 0.17, 95%CI: 0.45- 0.67; p=0. 011), being married/cohabiting (PR: 1.57, 95%CI: 1.47-1.68, p<0.001), being retired (PR: 1.70, 95%CI:1.42-2.05, p<0.001), diabetic neuropathy (PR: 1.30, 95%CI: 1.12-1.51, p=0.001) and fasting glucose ≥130 mg/dL (PR: 1.35, 95%CI: 1.13- 1.61, p=0.001). Conclusions: Type II diabetic patients from the urban area of Ayabaca presented age over 50 years, primary educational level, married or cohabiting marital status, high prevalence of sexual dysfunction, increased glycosylated hemoglobin and high fasting glycemia.
