Objective: To determine if Prematurity, Low Birth Weight and Non-Exclusive Breastfeeding are risk factors for Low Academic Performance in preschools of the Initial Level of Educational Institutions ““Virgen de Fátima““, ““Jerusalén““ and ““Santa Verónica““ in the second academic quarter 2017. Material and methods: A retrospective study of cases and controls was carried out in which 150 pre-school children were included, according to selection criteria which were divided into 2 groups: pre-school children with low academic performance and pre-school children with good academic performance; applying the odds ratio, and the chi square statistical test. Results: Prematurity is a risk factor for low academic performance in pre-school children (OR: 2.25; p <.05); low birth weight is a risk factor for low academic performance in pre-school children (OR: 2.38; p <.05); non-exclusive breastfeeding is a risk factor for low academic performance in pre-school children (OR: 2.36: p<.05). In the multivariate analysis, the significance of the risk for the factors is corroborated: prematurity, low birth weight and non-exclusive breastfeeding as risk factors for low academic performance. Conclusion: Prematurity, low birth weight and non-exclusive breastfeeding are risk factors for low academic performance in pre-school children at the initial level of the educational institutions ““Virgen de Fátima““, ““Jerusalén““ and ““Santa Verónica““ in the second academic quarter 2017
