Determine if there is a significant association between H. pylori infection and platelet count in adult patients with ITP. Materials and methods: A Systematic Review - Meta-analysis was carried out using the medical literature databases PUBMED, OVID, EBSCO, MEDLINE, SCOPUS, WEB OF SCIENCES, taking into account the established criteria. The efficacy of the eradication treatment was calculated with the platelet count, comparing the count before and at the end of the indicated follow-up in patients with ITP who were infected with H. pylori. The mean, standard deviation and total number of patients of each article selected for the meta-analysis were calculated. Results: 317 articles were identified, 48 articles were reviewed in title and abstract, finally 17 articles in full text were evaluated according to the established criteria and 7 of them were included in the study. 443 patients were included, mean age, 154 were male and 289 were female, 248 patients tested positive for H.pylori infection with an average ITP duration of 74.6 months. The meta-analysis demonstrated a significant association between H.pylori infection and platelet count in adult ITP patients, after the indicated treatment in 248 patients (Mean = 54.04, SD = 30.62), 117 of them responded favorably (Mean = 121.05, SD = 53.57) and had a higher platelet count at the end of follow-up, the substantial increase was 44.31%, with a mean of 121.05 and standard deviation of 53.57 (95% CI 1.81 [1.07,2.56]). Conclusions: The cases presented indicated the start of eradication treatment by confirming the infection by H.pylori, and a positive impact on the platelet count was also observed, favoring the symptoms of patients with Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura. Furthermore, no association was found between patients with positive ITP for H. pylori and family history of ITP, autoimmune diseases and / or collagen disease.
