The objective of this thesis is to determine the evolution of the morphology of the channel (width, slope and depth) of the Virú river due to avenues and dominant flow, whose section of study includes from the Virú bridge to the Mochán mouth located in the town of Santa Elena, for this a topographic study of the study section was carried out by means of total station and Drone, obtaining as a result a slope of 0.46%. The flow record of the Virú river from 1950 to 2018 provided by the Operation and Maintenance Sub-Department of the Special Project CHAVIMOCHIC was analyzed, with this flow record the maximum avenue flow was calculated, which was 359.64 m³/s approx 360 m³/s for a return period of 170 years, also the dominant flow was calculated from 3 methods: statistical method (return period of 1.4 to 10 years), whose flow rates for return periods of 1.4, 3 , 7 and 10 years were 24 m³/s, 52 m³/s, 94 m³/s and 110 m³/s respectively; geometric method (flow that fills the channel) and the morphological method (greater background sediment transport), resulting in a dominant flow of 94 m³/s. The Iber 2.4.3 software was used to simulate these flows and calculate the tension as well as the speed. For the sediment transport study, sampling meshes were prepared, 6 samples (3 volumetric samples and 3 surface samples) were collected in the 4 sectors in which our study section was divided, the granulometric distribution was performed to find the D50, D90 , D84, D65, D35 and D16, these diameters together with the speeds and the braces calculated from the Iber 2.4.3 software were used to estimate the transport of solid bottom. In order to find the estimated volume of sedimentation, only the sectors upstream of the bocatoma were considered, since they are the sectors where there will be more sedimentation due to the sediment retention due to the barrage wall. It was estimated that with a maximum avenue flow of 360 m³/s the slope, the depth and the background width had variations of - 0.15%, - 0.37m and respectively, while for a dominant flow of 94m³/s the slope, the depth and background width had variations of - 0.11%, - 0.23m and respectively. As an additional contribution to our thesis, a flood study was carried out using the maximum avenue flow of 360 m³ / s in two scenarios (with mouth and without mouth) for the stage without mouth a topography was obtained before the construction of the mouth Mochán (December 2017), which was provided by the Virú Valley Board of Users, while for the stage with bocatoma a topography was made after the construction of the Mochán bocatoma, which was considered 2.4 km long of the riverbed (1.7 km upstream and 0.7 km downstream from the Mochán hydromassage) and an additional 400 meters on each margin of the main channel of the riverbed to identify flood plains, thus allowing the design of rock-shaped dikes with nail depth. The following results were obtained for the design of the castings, the crown width of 6m, the height of the dam 5m, the total length of the levees of 2.34 km at each margin, the diameter of the rock at the bottom of 1.20 m and the diameter of the rock in the slope of 1.00 m.
