Objective: To determine the factors associated with iron deficiency anemia in adolescent pregnant women at the Hospital Nuestra Señora de las MercedesPaita, 2016-2017. Methodology: Analytical, observational, retrospective study of secondary cross-sectional source. The population is made up of pregnant adolescent patients at Hospital Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes-Paita who attended in the period of the years 2016-2017. The sampling unit is made up of each one of the clinical records of pregnant adolescent patients with iron deficiency treated at the Hospital Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes-Paita, 2016- 2017 and who meet the corresponding inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: With 180 participants in the registry of medical records between 2016 and 2017, we found an average age of 16.69 years (SD: 1.45); Two groups were found where 96 records were within the range of mild anemia (between 10.9 to 10 mg / dl) having a mean of 10.44 mg / dl, followed by 40% (72 records) presenting levels between 9.9 to 7 mg / dl with an average range of 8.99 mg / dl and finally, in 6.66% of the cases we found a range of 7 mg / dl for the blood hemoglobin level. Conclusions: The factors associated with the presence of iron deficiency anemia in adolescent pregnant women are: Age of 17 years, being between 13 to 28 weeks of gestation (2nd trimester), having less than 6 Prenatal Controls (CPN) ** and finally lack of nutritional counseling together with the non-use of iron supplements during pregnancy.
