investigate the prevalence of dental caries in students from 1st to 5th grade of secondary school of the Virgen de Guadalupe Educational Institution. The general objective of the study is to determine the frequency of dental caries in this group of students. Material and method: The research was observational and with a cross-sectional design. The ICDAS registration form was used to diagnose carious lesions which were valued on a scale from 0 to 6, 150 students from the IEP Virgen de Guadalupe were evaluated, the descriptive statistical test was used. Results: It is observed that the upper right first molars are considered healthier, with 27% of the students indicating them as such, compared to the other molars. Upper left first molars and lower right first molars also had similar percentages of oral health, around 25% and 23% respectively. On the other hand, the lower left first molars showed a slightly lower level of health, with 21%. In addition, it is highlighted that white or brown stains on the enamel, micro-cavities and detectable carious cavities are more common problems than extensive carious cavities in all groups of teeth. These results underscore the importance of specific approaches to caries prevention and treatment, targeting particular dental areas and student groups within the population studied.
