The present work of investigation of quantitative approach, is sustained in the Theory of Orem; The aim of this study was to determine the association between the level of ergonomic risk and musculoskeletal symptoms of the nurses of the Surgical Center of the Regional Hospital of Nuevo Chimbote, 2017. The sample universe consisted of 15 nursing professionals; for data collection, the Ergonomic Risk Test and the Identification Card for the presence of musculoskeletal symptoms were used as instruments.The results obtained allowed us to conclude that 80% of the nurses present some type of musculoskeletal symptoms and 20% do not. Regarding ergonomic risk, 60% of nurses presented a moderate level of ergonomic risk followed by a high level (26.7%) an only 1.3% presented a low level; being the biomechanical factor who presented higher level of high risk (40%). While the environmental and temporal factors presented a moderate level of risk (73.3%) according to the nursing professional. There is a significant association between the level of ergonomic risk and the presence of musculoskeletal symptoms [p: 0.009; p <0.05]. Biomechanical and temporal factors are also significantly Associated with the presence of musculoskeletal symptoms (p <0.05) and the environmental factor is not associated with musculoskeletal symptoms (p> 0.05).
