To determine the association between video game video game pathological gambling and the degree of difficulty in interpersonal relationships of school adolescents in the State Educational Institution (IEE) ““Gran Unidad Escolar Mariscal Toribio de Luzuriaga““ in the city of Huaraz in 2019. MATERIAL AND METHOD: Observational, analytical and cross-sectional study, which included 257 students from the first to the fifth year of secondary education enrolled in the IEE “Gran Unidad Escolar Mariscal Toribio de Luzuriaga”. The South Oaks Modified Gaming Questionnaire (SOGS) and the Questionnaire for the Assessment of Interpersonal Difficulties in Adolescence (CEDIA) were used to identify the screening for gambling and the degree of difficulty in interpersonal relationships, respectively. The data was analyzed using frequencies and percentages; while, in the analytical statistics, the Spearman Correlation, the Student's Test and the Chi-square test were used to answer the objectives. RESULTS: The analysis showed that of the total number of students that make up the sample, 1.9% had video game gambling, with a predominance of men over women; In addition, greater accessibility was evidenced by cell phones and game rooms for their recurrence and in contact with them from 11 to 14 years of age with higher prevalence. Also, Spermman's Rho showed a low direct association between pathological gambling and the degree of difficulty in interpersonal relationships. CONCLUSIONS: Pathological gambling is associated with the degree of difficulty in the interpersonal relationships of school adolescents; however, larger population studies are required to confirm the findings.
