This research work reports on vehicle chaos, a consequence of the lousy service level of one of the accesses to the largest wholesale market in northern Peru, which must be resolved with utmost urgency. This also leads to negative consequences such as traffic accidents, the increase in the death rate, vehicle congestion, pollution and economic loss due to the time that is wasted on the move. The thesis “ROAD TRANSITABILITY DIAGNOSIS AND STRUCTURAL DESIGN PROPOSAL FOR THE STREET PAVEMENT OF SANTA LUISA - TRUJILLO - LA LIBERTAD, APPLYING THE AASHTO 93 METHODOLOGY” was developed in order to analyze the current situation of the street and carry out Structural Design of the Pavement to improve its passability, efficiently complying with the required requests. For its conception the current vehicular flow and its projection to twenty years were considered; as well as the characteristics of the foundation soil determined by laboratory tests for the purpose of paving samples taken from this area. The information collected was carefully processed so that this report can be used as a reference in future projects about construction and larger research projects. The results of this research show that the highest vehicular flow occurs in the morning hours and that the average number of vehicles in transit greatly exceeds the current road capacity, while the foundation soil is regular, with low CBR levels, which means that the pavement layers have a greater thickness. Finally, the flexible pavement was designed following the AASHTO-93 methodology, obtaining as a result for the asphalt binder a thickness of 11 cm; for the Base, 30 cm; and for the Sub base, 26 cm; no need for land improvement.
