The present investigation aimed at determining the state in which the neighboring road route N° PI-523, Paita is located, which has 8505km. Methods were used PCI and VIZIR methods, in addition to proposing solution alternatives to the faults found. In the development of the VIZIR method, it was proposed to delimited as study zones to 23 sections, area 231 m2, length of 35.00 meters and a width of 6.60 meters. With the PCI method, the same sections were defined to compare the results. According to the PCI method, the identified failures were: potholes (42%), edge cracking (25%), alligator cracking (15%), patching (6%), longitudinal and transversal cracking (4%), slippage cracking (4%), raveling (2%), block cracking (2%). Being the potholes the faults with highest incidence on the evaluated road. According to the VIZIR method the failures were: fish eye (29%), disintegration of pavement edges (21%), crocodile skin crack (17%), aggregate loss (10%), longitudinal fatigue crack (6). %), parabolic cracking (4%), edge cracking (4%), bacheos and patches (4%), thermal shrinkage cracking (4%). Being the predominant faults fish eye and disintegration of the pavement edges. Likewise, according to the PCI the road condition threw a value of 59.17 (good), while according to the VIZIR the value was 1.47 (good). The result that comes closest to reality was that of PCI, but there was also a 38% of the area whose status went from regular to very poor. Therefore, the following intervention alternatives are suggested: deep patching, surface patching, and surface sealing.
