Introduction: One of the most frequent pathologies that affects children is urinary tract infection, which alters their quality of life, establishing association with other pathologies, such as atopic dermatitis, is important to incorporate the development of detection programs and prevention that implies reducing its prevalence and associated morbidity. Objective: To determine if atopic dermatitis is a factor associated with urinary tract infection in children from 3 months to 5 years of age at the Hospital Belén de Trujillo. Material and Methods: The design of cases and controls was applied, retrospectively; A sample of 138 medical records of pediatric patients treated in outpatient clinics and hospitalization of the Hospital Belén de Trujillo 2014-2018 was considered, which were divided into two groups: with and without a diagnosis of UTI, the chi-square statistic was applied. Results: The frequency of atopic dermatitis in pediatric patients with UTI was 28%. The frequency of atopic dermatitis in pediatric patients without UTI was 9.8%. Atopic dermatitis is an associated factor for urinary tract infection in pediatric patients with a significant p-value (<0.05). E.coli is the most frequent isolated germ in patients with UTI. Conclusion: Atopic dermatitis is a factor associated with urinary tract infection in children at the Hospital Belén de Trujillo.
