To determine the sociodemographic factors and family history of mental disorder in patients with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) of the National Institute of Mental Health ““Honorio Delgado-Hideyo Noguchi““ period 2018, Lima-Peru. Method: The study is descriptive, observational, cross-sectional, retrospective, for which all the medical records of patients with a diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder who have been treated during the period 2018 were included, which were 490 records in total of which only 434 met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. A collection card was used to measure the variables. Results: They are shown under descriptive statistics. Seventy-eight percent of the cases between 18-29 years of age, the predominant sex was female with 81%, the prevailing marital status was 80% single, the most common level of education was secondary school with 40% completed secondary school, followed by higher education (36%), 46% of the cases were 36%, 46% were students, 22% were unemployed, and 15% were housewives, 80% had no family history of mental disorder. Conclusions: Patients with BPD in 2018 was 434 patients. The most frequent sociodemographic aspects are young people under 29 years of age and female sex characteristics that unified would contribute to the timely diagnosis of BPD. Single marital status, high school education level, no occupation and no family pág. 2 history of mental disorder were important characteristics found in these patients, but differ from other studies, which prompts to broaden the view of this complex and harmful disease with other future research either clinical or descriptive
