In the present research paper analyzes the effect of the placement of jetties by numerical modelling and determine the hydraulic behavior of the jetties that years after have been built in this section of study with the to prevent flooding on farmland and divert water. Within the theory of the design of jetties there are several mathematical formulas for the design of the jetties in different rivers, which sometimes give satisfactory results and at other times do not reach their goal because the hydraulic and morphological conditions of the rivers are different. From the studies carried out it is determined that the channels are more affected by the erosive force that starts and carries materials by the torrential flows in rainy times are the curved sections, forming a helical flow that produces high speeds in the external curves and low speeds in the internal curves, producing an effect of undermining in the external and sedimentation in the inner part of the curve. Currently in the section under study there is a dam that is formed by a trapezoidal section of compacted earth, with some on elevations in its natural height, has 04 espigones of comfortable rock and part of the slope is curled, thus protecting the farmland, the first breakwater having collapsed, the channel is filled with sand and vegetation, whose right arm is oriented towards the failed dam, producing that part of the waters in times of great avenues is oriented towards the right bank, colliding with the bank of this side of the river. For this study, a topographic survey was carried out on the curved section where the breakwaters of an approximate length of 1.5 Km are located, the hydrological study has been carried out using different statistical methods to determine the maximum flow for a design period of 50 years of 986 m3/s. With the hydraulic characteristics of the riverbed, the jetties have been designed considering the depth of undermining. For the analysis of the lateral displacement of the waters of the river Chira in the sector the Huaca will be carried out a modeling and hydraulic simulation applying the mathematical model IBER v2.4.1, which is a bidimensional hydraulic modeling program that uses Saint Venant’s equations for calculating gears and straps in the x and y direction. This software helped us to analyze the hydraulic behavior of the system for evaluate the variables already mentioned. With this simulation it has been determined that due to the inclination of the jetties the effect is opposite producing erosion in the internal part and producing flooding in the other margin that is the case in the Huaca sector of the Chira river, producing river and flood overflows, the farmers and populations of the sector under study being affected. This undermining process, if not controlled for a long time, may result in unrecoverable lateral undermining of the terrain.
