Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is the most frequent benign tumor among men, reaching a prevalence of 40% in the fourth decade of life and 80% in men aged 80 years and over. This pathology leads to annoying and disabling symptoms in the lower urinary tract, which are currently measured by the international score of prostate symptoms. The gold standard in BPH surgery is prostate transurethral resection (TURP), however there are other less invasive surgical techniques such as laser photoselective vaporization that can achieve the same benefits for the patient (1). Methods: In order to know and describe the efficacy and safety of photoselective vaporization in patients with BPH, an information search was carried out in the main databases of PubMed, Sciencedirect, BVS, ClinicalKey during the last 10 years and 11 were selected. featured studies. Conclusion: GreenLight photoselective laser vaporization is an effective and safe alternative for the management of the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia in the short and long term and with a lower risk of complications than TURP.
