The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between obesity and extremely severe morbidity in pregnant patients at the Regional Teaching Hospital of Trujillo 2015-2020. A quantitative study was carried out, descriptive relationship design in a sample of 246 patients, to whom a data collection sheet was applied. The findings showed that within the sociodemographic characteristics that stood out the most were 61.5% of patients who were between 18 and 29 years of age, 66.7% had secondary and 44.9% were mostly multiparous patients. In addition, the frequency of obese pregnant women will be developed, which was 50% and the frequency of pregnant women with extremely severe morbidity was 31.71%. The results also showed that obese women who presented extremely serious morbidity were 22.8% and obese women who did not present extremely serious morbidity represented 27.2%. In conclusion, a significant relationship was found between obesity and extremely severe morbidity, accepting the alternative research hypothesis (p<0.05).
