Objective: To determine if high consumption of sugary beverages is an associated factor for arterial hypertension in adult patients. Introduction: Arterial Hypertension represents a growing global concern, with prevalence of 32% in adults aged 30 to 79. Its impact is particularly noteworthy in Peru, where HTA affects one in five individuals. Risk factors such as obesity, diabetes, and a sodium-rich diet contribute to its spread. It is divided into primary and secondary, with the former being the most common. Its silent nature makes early diagnosis crucial to mitigate severe complications such as strokes and chronic kidney disease. The consumption of sugary beverages has been linked to an increase in blood pressure, especially due to the fructose content in these drinks. These findings underscore the importance of proactively addressing hypertension and its risk factors. Materials and Methods: An observational, analytical, cross-sectional study was conducted. The study population consisted of 171 patients attending the surgical risk cardiology clinic, based on inclusion criterio, and administered the sugary beverage consumption questionnaire (BEVQ-15), considering high consumption in those with intake >250ml/day. The collected data were processed in statistical tables, and prevalence ratios were calculated along with the Chi-square test. Results: It was observed that, in the study population, the mean age was 68.16 years, 62.5% had arterial hypertension, ando 44.4% had high sugary beverage consumption. A statistically significant relationship was observed between the consumption of these beverages and hypertension (p-value=0.01, PR 1.93), highlighting their association. Furthermore, obesity (53.2% of the population) showed a signifcant association with hypertension (p-value= 0.04, PR 1.33). Conclusions: It is concluded that high consumption of sugary beverages is a factor associated with arterial hypertension in adult patients
