Objective: To establish if Sacrospinous Ligament Suspension compared with Mc Call Culdoplasty, is more effective in the prevention of prolapse of vaginal dome in hysterectomized women. Material and methods: The present study corresponded to a observational study design, analytical, cohort, Where 48 females who underwent to sacrospinous ligament suspesion were taken into account and 48 females who underwent to Mc Call Culdoplasty as well, whom were treated at Belen Hospital of Trujillo Results: The 4.2% of patients who underwent the surgical technique of Sacrospinous Ligament Suspension presented vaginal prolapse as well as 10.4% who underwent by Mc Call Culdoplasty, resulting in a RR = 0.4 with a 95% CI 0.08 - 1.96. The average months free of disease following the use of the surgical technique of Sacrospinous Ligament Suspension averaged 11.67 + 0.23 months, while the average number of months free of disease following the use of the surgical technique called Mc Call Culdoplasty was 11.71 + 0.17 month, finding no statistical differences. Conclusions: The frequency of vaginal dome prolapse in women who underwent to sacrospinous ligament suspesion was 4.2%. The frequency of vaginal dome prolapse in women who took Mc Call Culdoplasty was 10.4%. The effectiveness of the Sacrospinous Ligament Suspension is similar to the Mc Call Culdoplasty for prevention of vaginal dome prolapse.
