to find the frequency of diabetic neuropathy in patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus in the Chicama Medical Post using The Michigan Neuropathy Screening Instrument. Material and Methods: an observational, retrospective descriptive study was designed, in which all insured people with a DMT 2 diagnosis were included, who attend their check-ups by the general medicine service at the Chicama Medical Post with a total of 78 patients. The data analysis was carried out using the statistical software SPSSv23.0, the qualitative variables were expressed in simple frequencies and percentages while the quantitative variables that were expressed in means and standard deviations always maintaining a confidence level of 95% (alpha = 0 , 05). Results: it was found that 62.4% of the patients presented healthy lower limbs, 32.3% suffered from neuropathic diabetic foot, while 3.2% and 2.2% presented ischemic and neuro ischemic diabetic foot respectively. The predominant sex was male with 54.3%, 85.7% of them patients had more than 10 years of illness and 48.6% were obese. 65.7% of diabetics had more than 200 mg / dl of cholesterol and 60% presented more than 150 mg / dl of triglycerides. Regarding kidney function, 28.5% were in stage 3 in diabetic patients and 80% of the patients had a glycosylated hemoglobin greater than 6.5%. On the other hand, 82.9% of the patients presented a blood pressure lower than 130/80 mmHg. Conclusions: the frequency of diabetic neuropathy in the Chicama Medical Post was 34.5% using The Michigan Neuropathy Screening Instrument.
