Objective: Establish that work activity in the covid-19 area is associated with alterations in mental health in health personnel in level II and III hospitals in Trujillo. Material and methods: An observational, analytical, cross-sectional study was applied, with the sample being 108 participants in the period from June to August 2022. The alteration in mental health was used as the dependent variable and work activity in the Covid-19 area was used as independent variables. 19 being gender, age, marital status, hospital and position the intervening variables. Excel or SPSS version 26 software was used to process the data. The Chi square test was used to establish the association between alterations in mental health and certain demographic and work characteristics. The association was considered significant when the probability of being wrong was less than 5% (p<0.05). Results: Of a total of 108 participants, it was found that the prevalence of depression was 49%, anxiety was 31% and stress was 33% in health personnel working in the Covid-19 area. The prevalence of health personnel who have worked in the Covid-19 area and present alterations in their mental health was approximately 40%, statistical significance has been found with age between 35 - 40 years of age (p=0.011), with hospital who works at MINSA (p = 0.002), a position they hold as nursing staff (p = 0.023) and work within the Covid-19 area (p = 0.037), while, with their gender, marital status, they live with a family member risk, no statistical significance was found. Conclusion: Being between 35 - 40 years of age, working at MINSA, being a Nursing staff and working within the Covid -19 area, is associated with an alteration in mental health while, with gender, marital status, living with a risk family member, no statistical significance was found for this association
