Results: During the period between July 2022 and July 2023, information was collected from 207 febrile patients with wheezing, of which 60.9% had radiologically confirmed pneumonia. Of these, alveolar pneumonia was evident in 24.2% of patients and non-alveolar pneumonia in 36.7%. There was no statistically significant association between respiratory distress (tachypnea/indrawing), oxygen saturation ≤92%, crackles or the relative count of immature neutrophils ≥10% with radiographic pneumonia. The absolute count of mature neutrophils ≥ 10000 cells/mm3 did show enough reasons to affirm that it is associated with pneumonia with a p =0.019 and an OR (95% CI): 1.97 (1.12-3.47) Conclusion: The absolute count of mature neutrophils ≥10,000 cells/mm3 is associated with the presence of pneumonia in febrile children with wheezing between 2 and 14 years of age.
