Correlación entre el promedio ponderado y la nota obtenida en el examen nacional de medicina en estudiantes de la UPAO, 2022-2023

Abstract

Determinar la correlación entre el promedio ponderado y la nota obtenida en el ENAM por los estudiantes de la UPAO en los años 2022 y 2023. MATERIAL Y MÉTODO: Estudio transversal analítico, donde participaron 580 alumnos de UPAO que rindieron el examen anual de Medicina en el 2022 y 2023. Para determinar la correlación entre las variables cuantitativas se utilizó los coeficientes de Pearson o Rho de Spearman y para medir la asociación entre las variables cualitativas y cuantitativas se usó el coeficiente Eta. RESULTADOS: Se obtuvo una correlación positiva y moderada entre el puntaje ENAM y el promedio ponderado universitario (Pearson 0.626, p 0.000). El examen mantuvo esta moderada correlación durante el año 2022 al realizarse en modalidad presencial (Pearson 0.629, p 0.000) y durante en el año 2023, al realizarse de manera virtual (Pearson 0.653, p 0.000). En asociación con el puntaje ENAM; el tercio estudiantil presentó una relación considerable (Eta 0.560), la sede de internado tuvo una asociación moderada (Eta 0.429) y la edad mostró una relación significativa e inversa (Rho -0.399; p 0.000). CONCLUSIÓN: El promedio ponderado universitario tiene moderada correlación con respecto a la nota obtenida en el ENAM. Esta correlación se reiteró durante los años 2022 y 2023, pese a tener diferente formato de evaluación

Determine the correlation between the grade point average GPA and the score obtained in the ENAM by UPAO students in the years 2022 and 2023. METHODS: Analytical cross-sectional study, in which 580 UPAO students who took the annual Medicine exam in 2022 and 2023 participated. To determine the measurement between the quantitative variables, the Pearson or Spearman Rho coefficients were used and to measure the association between the qualitative and quantitative variables, the Eta coefficient was used. RESULTS: A positive and moderate correlation was obtained between the ENAM score and the university GPA (Pearson 0.626, p 0.000). This positive correlation remained during the year 2022 when they took the exam in person (Pearson 0.629, p 0.000) and during the year 2023, when they took the exam virtually (Pearson 0.653, p 0.000). Students who ranked in the upper third of their class established a considerable relationship with the ENAM score (Eta 0.560), internship setting had a moderate association with the ENAM score (Eta 0.429) and age showed a significant and inverse relation with the ENAM score (Rho -0.399; p 0.000). CONCLUSIONS: The university GPA has a moderate correlation with the score obtained in the ENAM. This relation was reiterated during the years 2022 and 2023, despite having a different evaluation format
