To determine that the CRIB II scale is a predictor of mortality in neonates of 1500 g or less admitted to the Víctor Lazarte Echegaray Hospital. Material and Methods: The present longitudinal observational study of diagnostic tests was carried out. The population was established by 335 neonates weighing 1500 g or less according to selection criteria. For the analysis, the Chi-square test (X2) was performed with a significance level of 5% ROC curves (Receiver Operating Characteristic) with area under the curve and to validate the diagnostic test, the positive likelihood ratio indicators (RV + ) and negative likelihood ratio (RV-). Results: The positive likelihood ratio of RV + = 7.4, which is 7.4 times more likely that the prognosis is positive or mortality in the deceased than in the nondeceased. The negative likelihood ratio of RV + = 0.01, which is the probability that the CRIB II scale predicts non-death in the deceased compared to the non-deceased. The ROC curve of the CRIB II scale score with mortality reports a departure from the diagonal with high values of Specificity, which indicates a good model, a situation that is corroborated with the area under the curve of A = 0.952. This situation allows us to indicate that the CRIB II scale is a good predictor of mortality in neonates weighing ≤ 1500 grams at birth. Conclusions: To determine that the CRIB II scale is a predictor of mortality in neonates of 1500 g or less admitted to the Hospital Víctor Lazarte Echegaray
