Objective: Determinate if C-reactive protein is a predictor of early neonatal sepsis in newborns atended at Cayetano Heredia, III Hospital, 2018. Material and Methods: A cross-sectional, retrospective, analytical and observational study was carried out, this was about 92 patients with diagnosis of early neonatal sepsis hospitalized in the Neonatology service of Cayetano Heredia III Hospital during 2018. For the analysis, a database was used in Excel 2013 and then it was transferred to SPSS 22 and to STATA 14.0, where the statistical analyzes were made. Results: None of the maternal risk factors was related to CRP; gestational age was the neonatal risk factor most associated with CRP; no perinatal risk factor was associated with CRP. Fever was the clinical manifestation most associated with CRP. Conclusion: The sensitivity of C-reactive protein to diagnose neonatal sepsis in newborns attended at José Cayetano Heredia III Hospital in 2018 was 12.82%, the specificity was 71.42%, the positive predictive value of 71.42%, and the negative predictive value was 12.82%.
