Determine if unplanned pregnancy is associated with ignorance of the ovulatory cycle in Peru according to the Demographic and Family Health Survey (ENDES) 2019-2021. Material and method: An analytical, retrospective and cross-sectional study was carried out. In this study, we used secondary data from the ENDES from 2019 to 2021, which included 15,832 women between 12 and 24 years old who were ever pregnant. Unplanned pregnancy was considered as the response variable and ignorance of fertile period ovulatory cycle as the exposure variable. Analysis was carried using the SPSS software. Spearman correlation was used to determine the association, Chi-square test was done to compare the different groups. The value of P<0.05 was estimated for statistical significance. Results: The ignorance of fertile period ovulatory cycle was 65.4%. This study showed that 8,458 cases were unwanted pregnancies, of this group 60.4% of women stated that they wanted to wait longer and 39.6% did not want to have more children. Adolescent women, living in poor households, residing in rural areas were significantly associated with a higher risk of unplanned pregnancies. Relatedly, age, place of residence, educational and economic level were associated with ignorance of fertile period ovulatory cycle. It was found (Spearman's RHO 0.032 and P value = 0.014) between ignorance of fertile period ovulatory cycle and unplanned pregnancy. Conclusion: There is a direct but low association between ignorance of fertile period ovulatory cycle and unplanned pregnancy.
