This research aims to reduce water consumption in the Cuenca SAC tannery’s productive process. This is an applied investigation with a descriptive level and an experimental design. Were evaluated some improvement alternatives aimed at reducing water consumption through the application of the AHP method, being wastewater recycling the winning alternative. Water consumption data had taken in m 3 of the soaking and peeling process before and after the implementation of the system. Similarly, techniques and instruments such as direct observation and registration forms had used. Among the tools we used are Excel spreadsheets, block diagrams, AutoCad and SPPSS. The results show that there is a decrease in water consumption according to monthly / production in the soaking process of 55.48 m 3 and in the pelleting process of 249.82 m 3 on average, also a monetary reduction of S/ 1,755.50 in water costs. Therefore, it’s concluded that the implementation of a wastewater recycling system decreases the water consumption in the soaking and peeling process.
