promedio
In the present study, with the objective of determining the hematological values in geriatric canine patients from Trujillo, 78 dogs were taken as a sample that met the following inclusion criteria: 7 years of age or older, of any race, sex and clinically healthy. Previous authorization of the owners, the information of the dogs was collected, using clinical record sheets, proceeding to take the blood sample, be analyzed and the result was compared with reference values in adults. According to the results, in the red series, the values of erythrocytes, hemoglobin and MCH were significantly different (p<0.05) from the mean of the adult theoretical value, showing lower values; in the white series, the variables of total leukocytes, segmented neutrophils, eosinophils, and lymphocytes were lower than the mean of the adult theoretical values, and the averages of monocytes, rod-shaped neutrophils, and basophils were higher; although they only turned out to be significantly different (p<0.05) with respect to the mean of the adult theoretical value, the means of total leukocytes, lymphocytes and basophils; and in the platelet series they were lower than the reference values in adults, without significant difference (p>0.05). It is concluded that the hematological values in geriatric canine patients differ from those of the average adult
