With the objective of determining the relationship between COVID-19 and premature birth at the II-2 Sullana Support Hospital during 2020, an applied research and cross-sectional cohort design was carried out. The sample was made up of 600 medical records of women with a diagnosis of premature birth, 300 of them exposed to COVID-19 and 300 not exposed. The sampling was simple random non-probabilistic. It was found that the average age was 26 years, 38% completed secondary education, 57% were housewives, 75% came from an urban area and 90% had cohabiting marital status; Regarding obstetric history, 81% did not present comorbidities and the average gestational age was 35.4 weeks. The presence of premature birth was found in 35% of COVID-19 positive women and 14% in the COVID-19 negative population. The relative risk of preterm birth in COVID-19 positive women is 2.56; which represents a risk factor. Finally, it was concluded that there is a statistically significant relationship between the COVID-19 variable and premature birth, which was corroborated according to the Chi square statistical test P<0.0001.
