To determine that gestational anemia is a risk factor for clinical chorioamnionitis in pregnant women treated at the Obstetrics and Gynecology service of Hospital de Belen de Trujillo. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A case-control type research study was carried out, the population of this study was obtained by formula where 240 pregnant women were recruited, of whom 229 patients met the selection criteria, of which 77 of them were cases and 152 controls, this research was carried out in the Gynecology and Obstetrics service of Hospital de Belen de Trujillo. Data from the patients' medical records were taken, calculating the Odds Ratio (OR), and the Chi-square test to assess the degree of significance of the intervening variables. RESULTS: It was observed that of the total number of pregnant women with the presence of clinical chorioamnionitis, 55.84% reported gestational anemia, while of the total number of pregnant women without clinical chorioamnionitis, 38.16% reported gestational anemia, which indicates that there is a greater proportion of anemia in cases compared to the controls; gave us an OR =2.05 (p<0.01), obtaining that pregnant women with the presence of gestational anemia have 2.05 times the risk of suffering clinical chorioamnionitis compared to pregnant women without gestational anemia, this being statistically significant, that is that gestational anemia is a risk factor for clinical chorioamnionitis in pregnant patients. CONCLUSIONS: The Gestational anemia is a risk factor for clinical chorioamnionitis.
