To determine the relationship between emergency oral contraception and the alteration of the menstrual cycle in university students from University Antenor Orrego Piura 2022. Materials and methods: This study is a Retrospective Cohort type design, for which a semi-structured instrument was applied to a representative sample of 264 women who were asked about their experience of using emergency oral contraception and their menstrual disorders. Results: Monthly menstrual frequency in students who used emergency contraceptive pills was significantly altered(69.7%)compared to women who did not use oral emergency contraceptives(44.3% ). The duration of menstruation in students who used the emergency contraceptive pill was statistically longer(5.2 days) than women who did not use said contraceptive (5 days). No statistical relationship could be found between the use of the emergency contraceptive pill and the menstrual volume of the students studied. Conclusions: Emergency oral contraception is significantly related to the alteration of the menstrual cycle in students of University Antenor Orrego from Piura 2022.
