The objective of the research was to determine whether obstetric psychoprophylaxis is related to benefits in labor and newborn. A correlational, cross-sectional and retrospective methodology was used. A data collection form was used to obtain information on the variables. The sample included 90 pregnant women who attended the psychoprophylaxis program. According to the findings, 74.4% were able to complete the psychoprophylaxis sessions. The benefits of psychoprophylaxis in labor included a normal duration in the latency phase (58.9%), active phase (58.9%) and expulsive period (56.7%). Likewise, a high percentage did not suffer perineal tearing (81.1%). Regarding the newborns, among the benefits were normal values for fetal heart rate (84.4%) and APGAR of the newborn at one minute (84.4%). In addition, 90% had clear amniotic fluid at delivery. There is a positive and significant relationship between obstetric psychoprophylaxis and benefits in labor and newborn (rho=.550; p=.000). In conclusion, a positive and considerable relationship was demonstrated between obstetric psychoprophylaxis and benefits in childbirth for mother and newborn, Hospital Elpidio Berovides Pérez Otuzco, 2019
